The Untidy Business of Play

It's the second weekend of 2011. There is still time for New Year's Resolutions. If we have young children at home, setting a goal to spend true quality time with them is a great idea. In my role as a school counselor, I see too many children who have difficulties tapping into their imagination, negotiating a game successfully, or sustaining attention through a more complex game. As many of you know, I love my electronic gadgets. However, when it comes to children, making a mess and playing together is the better way to go. The article below has some really good research which may help convince you to make playing one of your priorities this year!
